Administration Manager

Austbrokers SPT

I joined Austbrokers SPT in 1992 having just completed my Diploma of Secretarial Studies. Just out of college, I was initially employed as the company’s receptionist. It hadn’t been my intention to work in the insurance industry but I was welcomed into a friendly and caring work environment and straight away felt at home.

My eagerness to progress, the training opportunities SPT provided and their rapidly expanding Boat and Jet Ski Insurance facility allowed me to move within a couple of years into the role of managing the Marine Insurance Department.

Under the guidance of our Managing Director, Brian Salisbury, I became dedicated to this role and was well supported by a fantastic team. Together we grew the portfolio into a market leading facility which continues to flourish today.

After some 11 years at SPT in these roles, I was ready to start a family and my husband, Brendan and I welcomed our sons Luke and Bryce within 2 years of each other. I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy 5 years as a stay at home mum but I also kept in close contact with my friends at SPT.

In 2008 during a period of rapid expansion at SPT, Brian offered me a part-time position. It was the perfect opportunity for me to balance motherhood and a return to the workforce. SPT could not have been more supportive!

Since then, SPT have continuously provided me with new challenges, endless opportunities to expand my knowledge and most importantly a supportive and flexible environment in which a mother of two busy boys needs to work!

I am proud to say for the past 3 years, I have enjoyed the role of Administration Manager. Not only do I love my role, but I am supported by a wonderful team of ladies who I consider friends. Together we handle all of the administrative requirements of SPT, supporting our three Principals and our Broking Staff. Most of SPT’s staff has been with the company for 10 years or more, so we are much like a family in many respects.

We are passionate about helping the local community where we live and work and we have been a strong supporter of the Sutherland Shire community for many years. We donate to a number of organisations and also sponsor sporting clubs, local festivals and a number of local charity golf days.

It is a privilege to work for a company that is so well respected within the local community and I am proud to be a part of it.
