Joanne Cracknell

General Manager

Gymea Community Aid & Information Service / Living Well Locally

Joanne Cracknell is the General Manager of Gymea Community Aid and Information Service (GCAIS) and a partner of the recently launched initiative Living Well Locally (LWL). Joanne’s role is focussed on running the business and utilising her years spent in the Corporate world to help with the efficiencies of the organisation as it is today and, implementing strategies for the future. With two distinct services - the Community Connections (early aged care support) and Multicultural and Settlement Services being supported by senior leaders, Joanne can work with the teams and provide the most effective structure and resources required for services to be delivered. In the LWL initiative, she works with partners from four other community organisations to support the marketing, media and communications effort, product design and implementation and, bookings and delivery of services.

Joanne’s early career started in banking and then moved to the travel industry where she spent 18 years with the Avis/Budget Group. She worked her way from the car hire desk at Sydney Airport through to the National Training Manager and eventually Organisation Development Director. From the travel industry she then went to the diversified health care sector with Abbott Australasia where she was the Regional Learning and Development Manager for Asia Pacific and Australia. This 8 year tenure taught her a lot about working cross-culturally and in a matrix team environment where not all roles and jobs are clearly defined. This learning has come in very useful in the Community sector in which she now works.

After leaving Abbott, Joanne took some time out and formed her own organisation development business which saw her contracting with organisations such as Coles, Department of Social Services and working on training projects with the NDIS and Learning Ventures. Over 3 years ago, Joanne joined the board of GCAIS and during her time as President, decided to take the vacant role of part-time General Manager and support the business through a significant restructure and re-aligned strategic plan.

When not at GCAIS or spending time on the development of LWL, Joanne’s interests range from health and fitness to horse racing. Residing in the Shire for over 15 years, Joanne likes to keep up her knowledge of social media applications to help further support the communications of the business.

Both GCAIS and LWL have a range of services and options to support Shire residents and with highly trained staff, invite the community to make contact either through the office at 39 Gymea Bay Rd Gymea, or via our websites www.gymeacommunityaid.org.au or www.livingwelllocally.com.au.
