About Michelle
I am an executive & personal coach specialising in positive psychology approaches to optimising personal & professional wellbeing, engagement, & peak performance.

I have lived in the Shire all my life, however for many years I have divided my time between the Shire & the Northern Beaches, where my partner resides. Prior to coaching I worked for many years in executive management roles in the Public Service.

Taylor Made – A positive step
The idea for my business came whilst I was in the public service. I believe in making a positive difference to the lives of others through my work & coaching was an obvious & attractive fit.

In 2009 I left the public service to begin a career in coaching & commence the Master of Applied Science (Psychology of Coaching) at the University of Sydney. This was a life changing experience – I discovered that my calling is helping people optimise their wellbeing through the science of coaching & positive psychology.

The day after I left the public service I registered my business. My studies deferred some of my best laid plans initially. It is 3 years later & things have really started to take off. 2012 promises to be a big year with many new workshops & programs underway & more in the pipeline (see Michelle’s Profile Page for all her latest workshops).

Focus & highlights
My business focuses on optimising wellbeing. Unlike clinical psychology coaching psychology does not simply alleviate distress but utilises scientifically validated ways to help clients lead flourishing lives.

A highlight has been delivering our Career Ignite program & helping people find their right-fit factors for optimal engagement & wellbeing. Another achievement is the launch of Wellbeing Boot Camp - a program designed to teach people fun, simple ways to find more joy in their lives. My goals for 2012 are to continue to help women in the Shire, their families & friends find greater meaning, purpose, happiness, and joy in their lives as well as build greater awareness of the benefits of coaching and positive psychology.

Keeping positive is the secret
Building a successful business can take time. A major hurdle has been remaining hopeful when progress seems slow. I help clients implement strategies for resilience & optimism in order to maintain motivation for successful goal setting & striving. So it is simply a case of practising what I preach & being alert to and noticing opportunities when they come along.

Who are the people who inspire & drive Michelle?
My inspiration has been amazing teachers & researchers in positive psychology & coaching including Martin Seligman, Barbara Fredrickson, Tony Grant, & Russ Harris.

My biggest supporters are my grandmother, who at 93 still lives in her own house in the Shire, my partner Dave, my extended family & some amazing friends, many of whom I met through coaching.

Advice for success
Michelle’s top tip for business: “Ask clients what they want & listen carefully”

Michelle's top tip for you: “My best advice for everyone - notice what energises you & ignites your passions, focus on your strengths, & look for opportunities to do more of what works. For every goal you set do what people high in hope do - devise five different strategies for achieving your goal and see setbacks as opportunities for new insights rather than failure.”
